How is the course delivered?

Training is delivered via blended delivery (includes face-to-face and distance components).

As a part of the enrolment process, you will complete a competency assessment to determine your existing level of relevant knowledge and skills. You will then be provided with a training plan that identifies your Cohort based on this assessment.  The amount of training and support required for each learner will vary depending on your Cohort.

Course Duration: This course is designed to be completed within up to 52 weeks (including holidays and Vocational Placement) depending on your:

• prior knowledge, skills, and experience
• allotted time to study every week
• learning abilities

Expected Study Hours: Typical learners are expected to spend up to 1219 hours of study to complete the course.

The CHC33015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support is composed of 15 core units and 3 elective units, for a total of 18 units.

What are the entry requirements?

• This course has no entry requirements, but it is recommended that students meet the following criteria:
• Students must be at least 18 years old.
• Students should have adequate computer skills with internet access and have a valid USI.
• Students must pass a language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) test to attend the course, either in hard copy or eLearning: Moodle format. The LLN test will determine if the student requires additional support to achieve the following ACSF Levels:
  • Learning – Level 3
  • Reading – Level 3
  • Writing – Level 3
  • Oral Communication – Level 3
  • Numeracy – Level 3
• For the aged care course, students must obtain an Australian National Criminal History Check at their own expense. Failure to obtain the required clearance may result in discontinuation of the course.

Is Vocational Placement required?

Learners are required to undertake a minimum of 120 hours of vocational placement within a registered approved aged care center and complete a skills workbook. Learners have the option to:

• source their own Vocational Placement providers or
• have Encourage Training College to assist them in arranging Vocational Provider near their area or
• use Encourage Training College’s contact

Encourage Training College will provide learners a Vocational Placement Pack that outlines all the requirements for finding a suitable Vocational Placement Provider that will facilitate the required workplace assessments and allow the learner to complete the required vocational placement hours.
